Encourage Your Diners to Post Photos of Your Food

User-generated content can do wonders for all businesses, but it can be so, so powerful for restaurants.

Any restaurant can claim to have the best cheeseburger, chicken madras or steak and chips but when a satisfied diner posts to say that on social media, it means so much more!

Do what you can to encourage photo posting by your diners. Fortunately, this isn’t always too difficult since plenty of people stage full-on photoshoots of their food before they even take a bite. All they need is a prod to share it.

Think about having signs in your restaurant that encourage diners to share the pictures with your branded hashtag, and put regular calls for diner's photos and comments on your different profiles. And, as always, when someone posts great content, ask if you can share it on your own social media too.

Make It Really Easy to Call You to Book or Place an Order

Take a look at your website, Facebook page and any other online presence, put yourself in the shoes of a first time visitor, and see how easy it would be for them to call you.

Is your phone number right there up front and in their face, or is it hidden somewhere at the bottom of a page that they need to search for?

And if you look at your website on a mobile phone, firstly does the website resize properly so that it can easily be read on a phone, and then is your phone number clickable to call you? I've seen a number of restaurant websites where their phone number is in an image and so to call them I'd actually need to memorise the number and then manually dial it!

It needs to be as easy as possible to call you so please make sure that a/ your phone number is VERY easy to find and b/ on your mobile site, just clicking the phone number will call you.

Partner Up with Local Businesses

This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with the local community and build valuable peer relationships at the same time.

Purchase ingredients from local vendors, or buy paintings or book live music from a local artist.

Post about it on social media, and tag the other businesses. In many cases, they’ll share the post or reciprocate, putting you in front of a local and enthusiastic audience.
